All new stairlifts include a 24 months, callout support warranty which covers you for parts, labour and callout. Our fully trained engineers are available to assist you and will be there to support you, a friend or a loved one should the need arise.
As a locally based company we cover the West Midlands and all of our engineers are based across Worcester, Bromsgrove and Birmingham so our response times are excellent and we are never far away from you. Handicare are also based in the black country and so getting spare parts and new lifts carries a very rapid response time.
Putting it simply, we categorise a staircase into either a straight or a curved stair. There are many different factors to consider when surveying for a new stairlift such as landings, fanned stairs, bulk heads etc but over all you either have a straight lift or a curved stair lift installed.
Providing there are no obstructions at the top or bottom of the staircase and the stairs are straight up and down then we can install a straight stairlift. There are also straight slide track stairlifts which allow for things such as doors and obstructions at the bottom of the stairs and can extend and retract accordingly.
The curved rails we install are bespoke to your stairs and we design them using 4d Cad and simulate the stairs to check for things like knee clearance on fanned staircases. We can ensure that the lift is safely stowed at either the top or the bottom of the staircase. A curved lift will either run externally around your curved staircase or internally and we can talk this through with you during the free no obligation survey.
There are numerous power accessories that you can add to your stairlift and many of our popular options are listed below.
Powered Swivelling Seat: this will enable the user to turn at the top or bottom of the stairs automatically without having to use the manual lever provided.
Powered Footplate: this will automatically fold and unfold for the user when coming in and out of the stairlift carriage. It’s ideal for people with limited mobility who don’t have a lot of strength to do this manually.
Harness: for additional security and safety when travelling.
Magbility will give you the choice between buying a new stairlift, having a reconditioned stairlift or renting a stairlift for a short period (min 3 months).
This is always dependent on the stairs we will be installing the lift onto and if there are any other factors to consider such as doorways and other obstructions. In general terms, if you have a straight set of stairs all three options are available to you.
If you require a curved stairlift, we have the track made and customised for your staircase and then we can offer a new, reconditioned or rental carriage to go onto the track.
Stairlifts are battery operated. Inside the carriage are 2x 7ah batteries that should last roughly 2 years. The lift is plugged into the house mains via a plug and the power in the house should not be turned off for going on hoilday etc as the stairlift will not charge. We will explain to you before the installation as we need to make sure that we have an adequate power supply for the stairlift and stair rail.
Should you need to have your stairlift moved for new carpets or you require it moved for redecoration we can take the stairlift out and store it at your property (garage etc) or we can bring it back to one of our stairlift centres in Bromsgrove, Worcester or Birmingham where we can store it until it needs to be refitted. We can then reinstall it as and when you require. All of this can be agreed upon quoting for the job and we can tailor the solution to your needs and requirements.
If you are moving house we can offer the same options but we would need to measure the stairs that we will be reinstalling the stairlift and rail into as the stairs maybe a different length or shape. Again, our estimators can come out and do a separate stairlift survey for the new property and we can advise you on the details once it has been completed.
Providing the person buying the stairlift is registered disabled or has a recognised long term illness or medical condition then, VAT relief can be applied. It is also acceptable for a friend or relative to buy the stairlift on behalf of the person using the equipment (providing the conditions are met). You can also obtain VAT relief to related mobility products and services such as mattresses, servicing and spare parts.
